How to Use Social Bookmarking in Your Home Internet Marketing Business!

There is quite a bit of talk going on surrounding Social Bookmarking as a means of getting backlinks and traffic to our sites, and if you are using article or video marketing to drive traffic to your home internet marketing business then using this strategy will give your traffic a boost.

So I would like to tell you about the way I have been doing it for a while. Now before we start this does seem a bit complicated but bear with me because it is easier than it sounds and it is advisable to keep a note of everything you bookmark, you will see why in a moment. I'm a bit old fashioned so I just keep my notes in a handy paper folder.

So, social bookmarking is about mixing your own site bookmarks up with other popular bookmarks in the same field and submitting them to the appropriate bookmarking sites. Now the biggest of them all is Delicious and this is where we start. Before you all scream at me, I do know Delicious is 'no-follow' but don't worry about that, you will gain more credibility if you use a few 'no-follow sites.

So I start by just using Delicious and in my notepad I make three columns.

First column is for all the pages on my main site that I have bookmarked.

Second column is for what are called second tier pages, these are pages that link back to your main site and include anything you have posted online, articles, Squidoo and blog posts, videos etc.

Finally the last column is for other websites not connected to mine, but in the same niche.

Now I keep adding sites here until I have about one hundred in total and out of these, 30% will be my main site, 30% sites linking back to my main site and 40% made up of the most popular sites for my topic from Delicious. This is how I am starting to build an authority bookmarking site.

Now the fun begins. Delicious will let you export your bookmarks to other major bookmarking sites and that is exactly what I do, I export these hundred bookmarks to the following sites:

A1-Webmarks.com

MyLinkVault.com

URL.org

Jumptags.com

Mister-Wong.com

Connotea.com

Oneview.com

Simpy.com

Diigo.com

Folked.com

SecondBrain.com

So I have now got my hundred sites on all these quality sites and it did not take long to do as I just transferred my bookmarks from delicious.

The next step is to go and find the RSS feeds from all these sites and submit them to RSS feed directories and ping them, this gets some links going back to the bookmarking sites and ultimately to my sites and pages.

Then I open another account at Delicious and do it all again, I use the same accounts at the other sites to put my next hundred bookmarks in. So I will eventually end up with a lot of Delicious accounts but only the one at the other sites.

Although some of these sites are 'no follow' the feeds that are submitted will be, as will all my links inside the sites and I get direct visitors from the bookmarking sites themselves.
