Contractor Leads - How Social Bookmarking Can Benefit Building Contractors

Nowadays it seems that almost everyone is part of a least one social networking site such as StumbleUpon, Twitter, and Digg. While some people view it strictly as a way to connect with other people, some tech savvy businesses are also getting into the action and using those sites as advertising tools.

Social networking and bookmarking is phenomena that allows people to read an article, blog, watch a video, etc. and then post it to a site to "share". This allows their friends, follows, or even just random people to find and view the same article/video/etc. People can post links on "walls", leave comments, "tweet" what they think is interesting, or allow other people to "stumble" upon that site. This creates an entire web of people linking and sharing sources of information with one another.

Many people wouldn't think that companies such as building contractors could benefit from this type of networking. However, building contractors can get the word out about their company and services by posting videos and articles on sites such as these. The more people view and then "Digg", "Tweet", or "Stumble" upon them, the higher ranked they become and the more traffic they will receive. With this type of advertising, it is very possible that a building contractor can not only inform people about building projects that they may be interested in, but they can also provide information relating directly to their business. All of the information available increases the sales lead for the company.

On some sites, people can create groups that other people can join or become fans of. This equates to building contractors having the ability to create a group in order to promote them. For example, a building contractor creates a group and provides a service to a client. This client may end up being so happy with the work that, when informed about the group; joins or becomes a fan. In turn, their friends may see that and use the link from the original client to find out more about the company. This web of action promotes and advertises for the building contractor without the contractor having to spend mass amounts of money on advertising.

With the help of numerous social bookmarking and networking sites available today, it is becoming easier and easier for a company such as a building contractor to promote themselves and make more sales.
